Testimonial – Alain Pierre Dental Office in Flémalle, Belgium

My name is Alain PIERRE. I am a dentist in the region of Liege, Belgium.

I recently had the opportunity to attend a video conference given by Professor Eric ROMPEN, world renowned in the field of implantology, and in other fields related to this discipline. For example, and this was the theme of the conference, the decontamination of the dental office. This subject, in the context of COVID-19, could only be of interest to all dental surgeons who are somewhat motivated.

At the end of his presentation, it seemed to me that it was essential to make some changes in my practice. For this reason, I have isolated the treatment area from the administrative area by a wall, I have removed a maximum of equipment from the work surface and invested in a decontamination system. This system must succeed in annihilating the content of the damned cloud created by the turbine’s spray and which is likely to remain in the air for more than three hours.

After having done all my work, I decided to buy a UV MASTERCARE which seems to me to be the device that will give me a maximum of safety while modifying the least my daily practice. This deserves an explanation…

I will skip the delivery on the day and at the time planned, by a technician who placed the device and explained its operation, all in a quarter of an hour, counting the cup of coffee.

In short, it consists of two vertical tubes mounted on wheels generating UVC, which are placed opposite each other in the room and that you trigger with a key. A timer gives you 30 seconds to leave the treatment area, as these UVC are highly toxic. The decontamination of the atmosphere, all surfaces and possibly textiles, is done in four minutes. Impossible to forget that it is working, because the device emits a high-pitched sound throughout the sequence. If you still want to enter the room, a detector does its job and the tubes are switched off.

My assistant turns it on after each session where the turbine is used. Often, patients, in the office for paperwork, see the system working through the window of my new wall. They then understand my explanations at the beginning of the session. Each one of them confirmed to me that they felt secure.

My reflection, after a few days of operation is that this device has been well studied:

  • Ease of use
  • Quality of manufacture
  • Clear effect that eliminates 99.99% of viruses
  • Speed
  • Infallible propaganda tool for patients still reluctant to come for treatment.

On my modest scale of a small provincial practice, the investment is quite substantial, especially following the improvements already made. This notion is quickly swept aside because, at 60 years old, taking the risk of being affected by COVID-19 is not within my means. My conclusion: when I started working in 1984, we did not wear gloves or masks. I had never seen any of my professors wearing them during my studies. And yet, after the discovery of AIDS, it became essential. I believe that there is a new step in the history of dentistry: to keep the atmosphere, surfaces and even work clothes decontaminated at the beginning of each treatment. For this, in all honesty, I recommend UV MASTERCARE.
